In 1983, the U.S. Grant District of the Boy Scouts of America approached Rural Route 1 Popcorn with a request: create a quality popcorn product to help raise funds for Scouting.
That first ask sparked something bigger. Pecatonica River Popcorn was born as a brand dedicated exclusively to Scouting—and a new tradition began.
Following a successful inaugural sale that fall, the Blackhawk Area Council joined in 1984, and momentum quickly grew. Year after year, more Councils came aboard, and our facilities grew right along with them. From plant expansions to warehousing upgrades, our growth has always been driven by one thing: supporting Scouts.
